"Real Woman Have Curves" is a movie that explores coming of age and similarly to "The Joy Luck Club," mother-daughter relationships. This award-winning movie tells the story of a poor Mexican-American young woman who experiences difficulties with her weight and aspires to acquire a seemingly futile education. Ana relates to many characters of "The Joy Luck Club" in many of her approaches and surroundings.
Towards the very beginning of the movie, Ana didn't want to unlock her true potential and go to college, or rather she had already given up hope on her dream of earning a degree and was beginning to expect to work her whole life like her mother.
