Dog Breed Banning
Today Pit Bulls hold the label of “Bad Dog” and have fallen victim to breed specific legislation. But throughout history, German shepherd dogs, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, Dalmatians, and even Chow Chows haven fallen victim just like Pit Bulls today. People have been criticizing dogs for the way they act, look and how big or small they are. When in all reality it not their fault just like us, dogs get their genes from their parents. In this society today people don’t want others to judge them because of what they wear or what they look like. Breed Banning does not give dogs the rights they deserve.

Some owners only want a dog to earn extra cash and think the dog remains as nothing more than their property. A sheriff’s officer in Ohio said “that 64 out of 65 dogfighting raids he had conducted also revealed drugs.” In the case of NFL star Michael Vick, law enforcement officers discovered signs of dogfighting at the quarterback's property in Virginia as a result of a drug investigation” (Silverman 1).
Dogfighting should not be considered lightly. Dogfighting can kill innocent dogs for selfish human reasons. It can result in misbehavior in the dog; the dog can lose the loyalty for humans and feel insecure. Stress may also make your dog act out, and can result in more aggressive behavior. Dogs should not be pushed to the point where they cannot trust anyone or anything.
Third, dogs can get abused. An abused dog who has been beaten experiences mental effects related to fear and depression. A physically abused dog may remain distrustful and withdraw from people and act hostile and vicious toward other people. North Dakota is one out of 43 states that contain the animal breed banning law. Towns in North Dakota includes; Bowman, Burlington, Cando, Des Lacs, Glenburn, Devils Lake, Kenmare, Ray, Rugby, Watford City, Williston and Minot. Ever town endures differently but every single one of these towns have banned Pit bulls. Pit bulls are known to be one of the dangerous dogs after gang members made them imitating. A dog will do anything for its owners because ever dog is known to be loyal to someone. On August 20, 2016 Erika Poremski had stepped out to the car when the home burst into flames. “Erika was just screaming, ‘My baby, my baby!’ and running up and down the steps on the street,” a neighbor told the station. Poremski suffered burns to her hands as she tried to get back inside. Firefighters found Polo protecting Viviana, the baby in a second-floor bedroom. Paramedics revived Viviana who suffered burns to her face, arm and side. She was in the hospital in a serious condition. Poremski was grief-stricken over the loss of Polo and what he did to protect Viviana. “She only had burns on her side because of it,” she told WBAL-TV. “He stayed with her the whole time in the bedroom and wouldn't even come downstairs to get out the door.” According to one report the dog was six-years-old. “He was my first baby and now I lost him,” said Poremski.
