In this article, Dombey used sarcastic diction and selective detail, and repetition of the main phrase "Dombey and Son," the author brings fourth an attitude of contempt for Dombey's self-interest and sympathetic ways for Mrs. Dombey and the infant. The author was quite indirect with his feelings towards the characters I should say. He used a vague way of being completely clear in his writing but led the reader to have their own perceptions towards the characters of this article. With his way of imagery and diction it allowed the reader to immediately imagine the thoughts of Mrs.Dombey and it is clear that business takes a clear part in the Dombey and Son business. Something that tended to be extremely noticeable was the importance of his son. In the short amount of the article we received, as a reader I can tell that Dombey took more interest into his work rather than his own son. This is a sign of selfishness and self-pettiness. It does not show any signs of real love or true happiness, just something to watch in indulgent. By reading this article you can show that Mrs.Dombey wasn’t as enthused as her husband had appeared to be. As a mother, I’m sure that the only thing she is concerned with is watching her child grow. That seems to be the opposite with Mr.Dombey. He is so stuck on the fact that someday he and his son will be able to work together in this trading company he is forgetting the child is still a baby.
