Michelangelo worked on "David" sculpture for several years (1501-1504). It is a monumental work that measures over 4 meters. When statue was finished it was placed in Signiorii Square, and it was the first nude sculpture displayed in the public square since antique times.
Michelangelo gave us a figure of the future King of Israel before the fight with Goliath. It seems like he is waiting for the fight and his gaze is looking ahead at Goliath. Michelangelo depicted a young man with a sling. The sculpture of David brings out classical art ideals. It made out of white marble material, and it shows the beauty of the male body. The body of David is not perfectly proportioned; his right hand is slightly larger comparing with the rest of his body. Michelangelo presents David in all his young strength - suspended just before throwing the stone, convinced that there will be a victory.

Donatello’s “David” was created out of bronze; thanks to this material figure has interesting effect of oiled, polished body. Donatello revived the antique art of act, and its realism. The figure of David is shown with great attention to detail. The Greco-Roman tradition is displayed by the motif of helmet. The position of the body which bends in the shape of letter S, it is the so-called counterpost, thanks to this arrangement David’s body appears to be moving. David is shown as the biblical King of Israel, after the battle with Goliath. The head of the defeated giant is at his feet. The winner holds a sword in his hand. This is a figure of great power in the moment of
