Down by the sally gardens is a poem about relationships in the 1800. Are they much different than ones today?
Down by the sally gardens is about a man who is the speaker of the poem so in love with a girl that he is rushing his relationship. Whether it is trying to go to the next level or just being too clingy, it’s not too clear we just know that he is doing something wrong. I play the speaker in my poem and Corey plays the woman. At the start the dance focus on my poem the speaker and the woman are together they are using each other to support each other. They are together and they love each other, but she says for him to take love easy so she walks away. I do a lot of movement that have a delayed effect, the reason that I do this is because it represents him thinking about what he has done and what he could do better. The last section is that the woman is willing to give me a second chance, but I blow it and she leaves. This version of the poem is aesthetically pleasing because, dance is very entertaining and can show emotions really well. Since this dance was made for people to connect to the poem easily, this provides an easier interpretation if the person watching knows how to interpret a dance piece. The attitude, values and beliefs of the original poem are still relevant today, as relationship today still go through troubles like: new loves, cheating and domestic
