Some more characteristics of Down Syndrome are, low muscle tone, small stature and short neck, flat nasal bridge, single deep creases across the center palm, protruding tongue, large space between large and second toe. (Medical News Today). There are three main types of Down Syndrome which are, trisomy 21, translocation, and mosaicism. Trisomy 21 has 47 chromosomes in each cell instead of 46. (medical news today). Translocation is where one chromosome breaks off and attaches to another chromosome 21 chromosomes and 1 attaches to another chromosome. Finally mosaicism has a total of 46 chromosomes but there’s an extra copy of #21 making 47 cells.
