It is hard to take frustration without being violent. This is not Dr. King social movement method. In the PBS documentary “Eyes on the Prize”, Law enforcement Laurie Pritchett said that Dr. Kind’s tactic was nonviolence protest and his method was just like Gandhi in India. He wanted the police arrest and fill jails so there have no more arrest. Most social movement are more concerned about our political issues such as, racial, gender and social inequality in our country. The motivation of most current social movement is Dr. King civil right movement. They do believe that they can overcome by protesting.
The most or least productive tactics used in social movements is the one that receives more coverage. Disruptive social movement tactic is the one that tend to take the headline (Massey, Pg.145). The reason this is believed to be the most effective tactic is that more business people will complain, more events will be shut, and traffic stops including strikes in some schools and companies. It depends on how a person want to view this, but it is aware that this racial inequality issues haven’t stopped starting on Dr. King’s era. A social movement is to seek answers, but most of the time if the result is not what expected, the nonviolent became violent. This movement started on social media as hashtag in 2012 after the murder of an unarmed young African American Trayvon Martin. This went viral to social media and took it to the street. It is obvious that it is offense to some people and that’s where all lives matter came from. I believe that BLK movement was not to target all other race, but to speak out from their people which I personal believe that the inequality exists in our criminal justice system.
