Dragon Mythology While walking through the streets of Western Asia, I came across dragons on every wall that looked like a serpentine, or snakelike, reptile. I knew that dragons are ancient symbols, but I didn’t realize how important they are to the Asian culture. I’ve read China’s earliest myths, the Old Testament, and the Iliad, which all mention dragon-like creatures. It is safe to say that no beast can match the fierceness associated with dragons. Often times, I wonder why dragons have been such a huge part of the Asian culture.
Deciding that I would find my answer, I asked someone local, “How did an unrealistic creature become an ancient symbol for this culture?”
