By the connection of two different bands, Aerosmith emerged. From Steven Tyler, his own band was named the Strangeurs, but soon changed to the Chain Reaction. Also, Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton had the Jam Band. Perry and Hamilton both moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where they met Joey Kramer, a drummer. He then dropped out of school to join them in the Jam Band. In 1970, the two bands played in the same gig, and both absolutely loved each other's sound and style. They decided to become a band in October of 1970, and they moved into a home together in Boston to write many more songs. From the very beginning, Aerosmith was just a couple of men who loved to write and perform music. They bonded over this, and even had multiple styles to bring …show more content…
Tyler was passionate throughout the whole performance, and I believe it is because he is genuinely attached to this song on a personal level. During the time he wrote “Dream On,” the band was going through a rough patch. Albums were not selling at a steady rate and their music was not getting heard. Tyler wrote this song so he could help the band back to their original roots, so they could dream on. “It's about the hunger to be somebody: Dream until your dreams come true. This song sums up the s--t you put up with when you're in a new band. Most of the critics panned our first album, and said we were ripping off the Stones. “Walk This Way” was at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1977. This song helped Aerosmith “break into the mainstream” in the 1970s, but not only that, it helped them keep their career strong when rappers covered it. Run-D.M.C. had it on their album Raising Hell in 1986. “Walk This Way” is said to be one of the band's most important, influential, and recognizable songs, this is why the song made the band so much bigger. “So I took a big chance at the high school dance with a missy who was ready to play. Was it me she was foolin'? 'Cause she knew what she was doin', taught me how to walk this way. She told me to walk this way, talk this way,” the lyrics to this song is actually very filthy. The lyrics tell a story of a high school boy losing his virginity, and the “walk” means his motion of his fingers to the female. Perry sings the song very fast, different than any other song they have. There is also a heavy emphasis on the rhyming words, such as “so I took a big chance at the high school dance.” During their live performance, the beginning starts out with the drum beat by Joey Kramer, then leads to the guitar riff by Joe Perry. Then, goes to the famous Perry and Brad Whitford with the main riff. The production of this song was actually made in a playful way. The band was messing around with sounds and ended up finding the fast paced rhythm to this
