“Dad I think Emma is drowning,” I hear my sisters muffled voice say as I use my last bit of energy to pop up from the water. It was spring break about ten years ago when my life almost ended, again. But i’m getting ahead of myself. This is how the day went, me and my family were visiting my Yiayia, and I was 2 or 3, my sister was about 6, and my brother was 12. We were in my Yiayia’s little neighborhood, there was a pool and also the ocean right across the street. So naturally we spent most of our days there swimming, but this particular day turned out to be a little different.

All I can think about is how good it feels to finally cool down after walking and waiting for so long under the blazing hot sun. But my play time gets interrupted when I realize I have to go to the bathroom, I paddle with my tiny arms to the ladder and tell my mom I have to go to the bathroom. She sighs, “Okay honey let me get Yiayia to take you, one sec.” After she grabs my Yiayia I take off my lifejacket and walk to the bathroom with my Yiayia. Then once i'm done going to the bathroom I can hear the pool taunting me to hurry and come back in, my Yiayia walks away and I waddle over to the pool once again and jump back in not noticing my lifejacket is still by the table. I immediately start to feel myself sink instead of float and I freak out. Not knowing what to do I keep sinking and sinking until I reach the bottom, I try and push up with my tiny legs and manage to get in a gasp of air meanwhile my parents still don’t notice me struggling. As I feel myself going back under my brown hair seems to tangle up like seaweed swaying with the ocean currents. My bathing suit puffing up under the pressure of the water, my blue eyes turning red from the chemicals, and my body getting confused of where the top of the water while my hands try to find something hard to indicate where I …show more content…
Goes to my dad and says, “ I think something is wrong with Emma!” He looks up and sees me drowning, struggling. He sprints to try and save me before it's too
