Drug abuse has a more commonplace in our society today than before. Drug abuse is the habitual use of drugs to alter one's mood, emotion, or state of consciousness. Drug abuse is a serious public health problem that affects almost every community and family in some way. Each year drug abuse results in around 40 million serious illnesses or injuries among people in the United States. There are many different drugs being abuse such as marijuana, heroin and cocaine. There are many dangers and cause to drug abuse such as brain and stomach issues, family problems, and loss of work. There are many options to cure and get help with drug abuse and abusers. The cause and effects of drug abuse in society. There are multiply drugs that are being abused in our society. Marijuana at 17 percent is the leading drug in society being abused. With teenagers today over 50 percent of them have tried marijuana at least once. Other drugs being abused are heroin at 14.1 percent, smoked cocaine (crack) at 8.1 percent, stimulants at 6.5 percent, opiates at 5.9, and non-smoked cocaine (powder) at 3.2 percent. The abuse of these drug are costing America 193 billion dollars annually. The abuse of these drug are causing many issues and can be very dangers to your health and life style. Drugs contain chemicals that tap into the brain’s communication system and disrupt the way nerve cells normally send, receive, and process information (National intuition of abuse 2011). The physical effects of drug abuse is increase in heart rate, impaired muscle control, dizziness, vomiting, vision problems, loss of consciousness, respiratory arrest and death. Danger of drug abuse can lead to child abuse to your children, loss of your job, and homelessness. It’s very dangerous to your health causing life time issues. There are many option that drug abuser and peers of abuser can seek for help. One option is rehab. Abuser can go to rehab for periods of time to help them with their addiction to the drug. There are counselor that are available to talk to you. For family members there are signs that you can watch for to help the abuser out and prevent them from getting worst.
