Duke Ellington was born April 29,1899 in Washington D.C. He was a composer, pianist and bandleader of jazz orchestras. He led his band from 1923 until his death on May 24, 1974. His career extending over 50 years!! His cause of death was Pneumonia. Which is an infection that inflames air sacs in one or both lungs, which may fill with fluids. He should be honored with a stamp because he inspired many young boys and girls with his music, he was awarded many titles including Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (1966), Presidential Medal of Freedom(1969), Grammy Hall Of Fame (1975), Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album, Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition (1959), Grammy Trustees Award (1968), Grammy Award for Best Original Jazz
