Both of the types of characters moves the story along in different ways. In the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor many characters are dynamic as well as static. One character that is static is Theresa Cruz. She does not say much, but is there for moral support. Theresa is kind to Paul and she helps him throughout his first day at Tangerine Middle School: “She even sat down with me to eat. Mrs.Fisher is constantly worried about Paul and his safety. She is all over the place to work and family, and you normally lose track of her: “‘1225 Kensington Gardens Drive, Lake Windsor Downs? Where is it? Lake Windsor Downs?’” (p. 14). This quote shows Paul’s mother being very over-dramatic over the phone. She is acting very crazy and you can never tell what she is doing or thinking.
