Anthem is an extraordinary piece of literature that should be included in each state’s school curriculum because it is an adequate representation of society in the future. Moreover, it creates realistic social problems prevalent in society today, concluding with teaching children to be proud and accepting of whom they are. With an ever-changing, unpredictable society, Anthem foreshadows what could initiate in years to come. This book illustrates many instances that create a dystopian-society type atmosphere. For example, the protagonist, Equality 7-2521, and other people, only speak in the plural, first person tense, demonstrating equality among each individual, but ironically, doing the complete opposite.
