Born on July 11, 1899 in Mount Vernon, New York, Elwyn Brooks White later attended Cornell University and pursued a career in journalism. At Cornell, he wrote for the Cornell Daily Sun. White wrote for several newspapers, including the Seattle Times and the United Press. In 1927, he secured a job as a writer for The New Yorker, an American weekly magazine. However, E.B.
