There once was a country man who lived in Eagle Hawk. He lived by himself in his old farmhouse with his horse named Rustle. One day, as the kettle whistle sang its tuneless chorus, the country man dragged his feet into the kitchen to scoff down his oily eggs and toast. Tired and weary, he glimpsed out of the window. Something shining with silver caught his eye.
“What’s that?” he thought to himself as the machine rolled out of sight.
He clumsily scrambled into his shorts and vest and set off to investigate this new two-wheeled trend.

The country man travelled into town and located the nearest cycle shop. The sun’s rays glistened and danced along the steel frame as he admired the beautiful bicycle. He purchased the newest silver sensation but before he could leave to try his new bicycle, the shop manager questioned him, “Don’t mind me asking, but can you ride?”
The country man pondered the question and gave a sly smile.
“I’m the best at riding anything, whether bull or bicycle, or mammal and machine, I’m the best there is!”

He climbed up the bicycle and readied himself for the jaunt. But before he could plant his feet on the pedals, the bike shifted and flew off the track! The country man, frozen in his seat, sped down the steep mountainside. The bicycle screamed past a tree stump. His stomach was in his throat. The silver machine, which had a mind of its own, sprinted down the mountain side. The bicycle brushed past a kangaroo and skimmed a giant boulder. It bucked and swerved violently on the rough terrain. The country man’s face turned pale and his heart stopped as the descent into Dead Man’s Creek was dead
