Arieles Espinal In 1868, the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States granted citizenship and equal civil and legal rights to African Americans and slaves who had been free after the
American Civil War, including them under the phrase “all persons born or naturalized in the
United States.”

The Immigration and naturalization Act of 1965, also known as the Hart­Celler Act, abolished an earlier quota system based on national origin and established a new immigration policy based on reuniting immigrant families and attracting skilled labor to the United
States.(LeMay) Over the next four decades, “the policies put into effect in 1965 would greatly change the demographic makeup of the American population”, as immigrants entering the
United States under the new legislation came increasingly from countries in Asia, Africa and
Latin America.(LeMay)

If I was able to change the policy of the immigration then I will start reword the 14th amendment of the Constitution so that citizenship should only be allowed to one of the parents of illegal or undocumented children born in the United States The U.S should also allow more immigrants into the us because it helps boost tax revenues and the economy.
First I will start with changing the 14th Amendment. The 14th amendment was passed in
1868 it was passed because when the civil war end they was still discrimination happening ,
Congress decided to passed the amendment so Native American or any color people have their rights, but when congress passed this law they were not thinking about immigrants they were

trying to help color people . The 14th amendment states anyone that was born in the United States will be granted citizenship.The amendment needs to change due to the problems of “Anchor Babies. “
Undocumented womens are coming to the United States when they are weeks due to deliver their child. (NISSEN)They have their kids and because there child are born in U.S soil there new born babies will be considered an American and the parents will be deported back to their country. (Nissen)
The amendment should change the wording that they use. Instead of having “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the
United States and of the state wherein they reside”, it should say something like If born in
United States one of your parents that are not illegal should get citizen if their newborn child that was born in u.s soil , so that child is not raised alone or has go through struggles without someone being by their side. But there will be some regulation at who will get the cization . If the parents have criminal background that has not been filed away more than 5 years with good behavior will be allowed . Also the parents should have equal education to a 7th grader. if there no parent that can stay here with their parents, their kids will be left alone with no family member and get put into foster care at taxes payer expenses.
Yes, this does sound crazy because people might think if we let more immigrants come to United
States then they will be taking the little jobs that are left that American are fighting for. Or people might be thinking that the country will get over populated with too many people. Or they might say Immigration is considered bad because it places a strain on the available resources for

indigenous populations, it may also lead to overpopulation and a spike in crime. Immigration is usually a contentious issue in western countries. But if we let them in they can help your country in different ways and all the consider that americans have can be change. If we let let more immigrants come to the United states they will help the economy. First immigrants are more likely to be entrepreneur and to start new businesses which create jobs for
