The short story William Wilson by Edgar Allen Poe is about a man William Wilson. William Wilson is an awful man and his counterpart in every way William willson. The second William wilson shows up to correct or bring to light the wrongs that first does. Edgar allen poe uses this story to show how the human race has a conscience of some sense.

Throughout the story there is a constant theme of the main character, William Wilson being an awful person. The man cheats while gambling, he was also known as manipulative to his parents and classmates from a very young age.
