Edinburg North Cougar Football Game Analysis

I went to the Edinburg North Cougar football game versus the PSJA North Raiders. This game started off as an offensive shootout, but then quickly became an offensive domination of the PSJA Raider offense. For this game I decided to follow the Edinburg North offensive lineman. All of the ENHS lineman are undersized but are very technical. They are very active and have quick feet along the line. The Cougar offensive line get off the ball very well and are very explosive. Because of this the Edinburg North offense had a very good night. Due to the offensive line being as explosive as they are tis enabled the running backs and receivers to rack up a lot of yards. Gaston Cortina to me is the strongest lineman that the cougars have on their offensive line. He used his size very well. The cougars gave up a few sacks in this game for a number of reasons. The starting center was injured during the game and was replaced by a sophomore named Rick Cerda. Cerda is a big strong kid but still lacks the experience to keep up on the offensive line. Quarterback Christian Espinoza was sacked six times during the game. The other reason is that they were on the field for a long time during the game and they seemed tired and got a little lazy. The weakest offensive lineman on the cougar offensive line was sophomore Hiram Rodriguez. Rodriguez seemed small in size and had a tough time keeping his defender in front of him. For the start of the game it looked like the cougar offensive line was controlling the PSJA North defensive line and they weren’t getting to the cougar offensive lines chest. But then came a time in the game when the defensive line began to get to the chest of the offensive line. The cougars quickly recovered in the middle of the third quarter and began to control the offensive line. This is where the cougars began to score
