Edmund Kemper was born in Burbank, California on December 18 of 1948, to Edmund E. Kemper Jr. and Clarnell Strandberg. Kemper had a troubled childhood that started early in his life. During his early childhood years Kemper and his two sister lived together under Clarnell abusive household. His mother constantly admonished Kemper and forced him to sleep in the basement because she feared he would cause harm to his sisters.In turn his mother words and critizicsm got into Kemper head and he began to not have only hatred for his mother but against all women.

As a child he frequently would cut off the hands of his sister's dolls and performed sexual acts with them. He made his sisters play a game called “Gas Chamber” where he had them blindfold him and sit him on a chair. In the game “Gas Chamber” he would pretend he was the victim to be executed. He didn't know how to execute her murder but he knew that he needed practice. Kemper first objective was to practice killing other people first to perfect his mother's killing. May of 1972 Kemper murdered two young teens in his car. Mary Pesce, 18 years old, and Anita Luchessa, also 18 years old, were going to school when they agreed to get into Kempes car. He had told them he was going to bring them to his house but the girls never got there. Then, wrapped in a blanket, he brought them to his room where he took cute their heads off and then took pictures of them. Just four months after in September of 1972 Kemper killed 18 year old Aiko Koo.
