A. The element of critical thinking for this week is question, or “Question at issue.” The main question that is greatly discussed throughout this chapter is how teachers accommodate students’ different learning styles and learning needs. Chapter 4 provides answers to many of these questions by providing detailed explanations of different resolutions to situations. One question touched on throughout the chapter dealt with implementing laws for children with disabilities. Chapter 4 answers this question by going into detail about the different types of laws that are in place for students with disabilities. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a federal law enacted in 1990 and reauthorized in 1997 and 2004. It is designed to protect the rights of students with disabilities by ensuring that everyone receives a free appropriate public education (FAPE), regardless of ability. Furthermore, IDEA strives not only to grant equal access to students with disabilities, but also to provide additional special education services and procedural safeguards (pg. 153). Many other questions are filled throughout the chapter such as the mobility of students with physical impairments difficulties and disorders are also presented. . Overall, the chapter emphasizes that it is important for teachers to be able to handle and make accommodations for all students!
