Discrimination is treating a person or particular group of people differently, especially in a worse way from the way in which you treat other people, because of:
Skin
Disability
Culture
Sex
Age
Religion
Sexual orientation (CambridgeDictionary, 2015).
Health and social care services should meet the needs of people from all backgrounds. No-one should be treated less favourably than anyone else because of their religion, belief, sex, age, sexual orientation or disability.

WHAT DISCRIMINATION OCCURS IN TAHIR’S CASE
CULTURAL DISCRIMINATION
Tahir is being discriminated because of his cultural as his boss doesn’t allow him time off to celebrate the festival of Diwali as his boss believes that everyone should celebrate local public holidays.

LOW SELF ESTEEM AND IDENTITY
When a person begins to not feel good about themselves or who they are they begin to lose where they feel they belong in society and can feel lost.

DISEMPOWERMENT
This is when a person begins to feel less likely than others to succeed from having power, authority or influence. In Tahir’s case discrimination may cause him from apply for other jobs reducing his chances of moving on to better jobs reducing his opportunities.

MARGINALISATION
This is the process in which someone is pushed to the edge of society or a group. This usually happens in social circles where the minorit is ecluded and their needs and desires are ignored.
