To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Ms. Mary Shereda. I am currently an English teacher at Walled Lake Western high school. This is my 20th year and I’ve taught almost every core and elective course offered. Western, as you may know, is an International Baccalaureate school and our student population is extremely diverse. We pride ourselves on our academic rigor and celebrate our diversity.

Mary Shereda began the year in a long term substitute position teaching four sections of 11th grade general English and one section of 9th grade general English. Mary’s schedule was challenging for a seasoned teacher, let alone a teacher new to the field. Her schedule was not one that any teacher would celebrate. All classes were at a 30 to 35 student maximum. She had a full house every day, with students who were not always eager to want to be in school. Mary rose to the challenge!

She introduced herself to the entire English department immediately and researched any and all requirements necessary for both the 11th grade and 9th grade students. She became familiar with our operating systems, the curriculum; which included all benchmark tests, the Common Core Standards, meeting schedules, and so much more. I cannot speak highly enough of Mary. She has tenacity and intelligence! Since I teach 9th grade as well, we often met in Professional Learning Communities, sharing ideas and
