Currently, I am an Educational Paraprofessional at a High-School in Brooklyn with a one to one. As a Para, I face many obstacles with not only my one to one but also with the staff. Advocating and aiding my one to one requires a lot of patients and soft skills. The first soft skill, that I believe I possess and that Robles(2012) identifies, is integrity. I find myself, as a para, having to make moral decisions almost every day.Being able to do what is right and being honest is a soft skill that can be challenging. For example, with my one to one, I find myself having to decide whether to go with the flow with the school who seems to be more concerned and happy if my student stays out of trouble rather than passing his classes.
