Caring, inspiration, and desire- three things that make up the fine line of love. According to the dictionary, love is, “a strong affection for another arising out of kindship or personal ties” (Dictionary.com). Love can have many positive effects on people. For instance, some people give their time and money to travel across the world for their loved ones. Others spoil their loved ones with extravagant gifts. In other cases, however people react to love differently. These people act in an irrational and hurtful manner. Love causes them to abuse the people they adore. This is a clear example in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, written by William Shakespeare, he talks about how the characters will do anything for love.
People will sacrifice friendship for love. The friendship between two people can be compromised by love. Evidently, Hermia does sacrifice’ her friendship with Helena for the love of Demitrius. The two girls have been friends since their childhood and they have always had a very good relationship. Now, their affiliation becomes lousy because Helena sacrifices her relationship with Hermia. She feels that it is not good for her to be hostile because she realizes that a woman should not persuade a man but be persuaded instead, by him to be aggressive. However, because Helena really loves Demetrius, she feels obliged. Like Hermia, Helena dares not vent her anger on her lover. When Demetrius speaks offensively and discards her, Helena only pretends she does not feel hurt. Helena still expresses how much she loves Demetrius. Helena sacrifices herself for the sake of her lover. Whatever happens, the only things she thinks of is to get Demetrius to love her no matter what cost.
