How will removing the Electoral College effect America’s future? Getting rid of the Electoral College will benefit America. Reasons for this are that swing states can change the way a candidate campaigns. Also, the popular vote can’t win a candidate the election. The Electoral College should be removed because it will get rid of swing states and the chance of winning the popular vote and losing the election. The Electoral College should be removed because of the way it handles the overall popular vote. There is a chance that a candidate wins the popular vote and loses the election (Black). This is very serious because it can cause everything a candidate has worked for the past years to fail. Also, it can cause a candidate that most people don’t want in office to become president. Presidential candidates specifically alter their campaigns to be more appealing to the people who live in the swing states (Black). This changes the way that a president campaigns so we can’t see how they really feel about topics because they are just acting for the swing states. If there had been no swing states then we could see the real candidate and certain things in history could have been different.
