One of the innovations that had a large impact on society would be electricity. With electricity came the invention of the lightbulb, this reduced the risk of fire eliminating lanterns, which was rumored to be the cause of The Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Electricity also brought modern amenities, such as refrigerators, air conditioning, television, radio, and electric powered elevators. It is one of the most relied on innovations from the 19th century that we use today and impacts our everyday lives.
