Introduction

Electrolytes are substances that have the ability to conduct electricity, because it has been dissociated into negatively and positively charged particles, known as ions. The better the substance can conduct electricity, the stronger it is as an electrolyte. The dissociation process is done by having the substance dissolved in water which will break up the individual ions therefore making them independent. An example would be sodium chloride in water:

NaCl(s) Na+(aq) + Cl-(s)

In the above example, the water molecules have a stronger attraction with the sodium, as they re positive ions, therefore pulling the sodium and chloride ions.

The Electrical conductivity is the ability of a solution to conduct electricity. Depending on the conductivity, the higher it is then the stronger of an electrolyte it is. The unit for conductivity is microsiemens per centimetre or µS/cm.A stronger

And a solvent which is the liquid in which the solute is dissolved in. A solution’s concentration is found through measuring the amount of solute that has been dissolved. The concentration is also referred to as the molar concentration, or molarity. the equation used to find this …show more content…
It also helps control blood volume, muscle and nerve maintenance and function. it is vital to the body but if too much is consumed then that can lead to high blood pressure which in turn can result in kidney and cardiovascular disease. Potassium is a cation that is a key chemical to regulating heart beat and maintaining muscle function. Chloride is closely related with sodium and helps with blood cells, the organs and tissues. Phosphate is an anion that works mostly to straighten bones and teeth, it also works closely with calcium. During exercise, different amounts of salts can be lost depending on the intensity, climate, gender and person it’s
