Elementary school. That's where all of your youth is found and innocence is. Right? Well not everyone was a spastic, booger nosed, dodgeball loving kid in school. In this case, Christie Gomez was almost the exact opposite of all of those things. Small, hispanic with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes as big as the moon, fierce to the look and hot to the tongue. Christie wasn’t like her peers, and she asked herself the question most kids ask themselves; “Why do I feel different?”

She kept practicing, she kept meditating and kept researching. She was starting to feel more content with the person she was becoming. But the universe wasn't agreeing with her. At 18 years old Christie found great devastation with her partner. It destroyed her, from the inside out. She also began to develop a toxic relationship with her mother whom disapproved, and shunned her every movement and decision. Because it was unlike her mother needs and unsimilar to her sister Misty’s life. Christie thought “Why is it so hard for my mother to treat me similarly to my sister?” So she went along with everything her mother said. She tried day and night to gain validation for her mother. She came home early, she started helping around the house more, pulls her grades up. All she wanted was to feel validated and important. With all the stresses and all the contention, Christie graduated her sophomore year, to get out of high school. She hated it there, she didn't like the authority, she didn't like having to settle for something so authoritative and limited to creativity. Here she searched for something new. Christie still itching for a little attention and love for her mom, took some advice from her that she would later regret. Dental school. Christie was looped into something she never considered and frankly and deeply didn't want. Dental school? It's easy to ask why. And the simple answer is. “Maybe my mother will pay attention to me.” So she did it. She applied for Bridgerland Applied Technology school. She completed her degree in dental assisting 2 years later and decided to take a plunge into the dental industry. After working a few years at a local dentist office in Ogden Christie decided to go to Fortis College to get her Dental Hygiene degree. Every morning consisted of waking up at 3:00am to study, getting ready at 4:00am, being out of the house at 4:30am and if traffic was smooth, she'd get to SLC at around 6:30pm.
