The concert I attended was Eli Young Band at the Hat in Manhattan, Kansas on March 31. This was my first time seeing this Eli Young Band after listening them to multiple times on the radio. My knowledge of the band was limited to a few of their bigger songs and a couple pictures I had seen of them previously. I decided to attend the concert as I am a big country music fan and have wanted to see them in the past, but it hasn’t worked out to do so and many of my friends were attending also. I did a little research prior to attending the concert though as I was interested and felt it would help me appreciate the concert more. The Eli Young Band consist of four very talented musicians from Texas who met in college, with the lead singer, Mike Eli, paving the way. The Eli Young Band has had three #1 singles since their formation in college. The Hat which is located on the edge of Aggieville, was a great venue for the concert. It was just the right size that everyone had a good view to see and made it worth the money. The band sounded great with the acoustics and layout. Occasionally music overpowers the singers but with this venue it was set up great and sounded wonderful. The band started with a few songs I had never heard before but were great songs. However, I really was excited for them to make a shout out to Nick Walsh. Nick is a former KSU football player who is working on his music career as a country singer himself. Nick was the first of the two openers for the Eli Young Band. For them to make a shout out to him and encourage him was great. Young artists often get discouraged and find it hard to make it in the industry so to see the support is great and inspiring. Overall the show was great, the band provided great energy that the crowd fed off. The band did a great job bringing The Hat to life in the little
