In "The Crucible" of Act lll, Elizabeth refused to tell the truth about dismissing Abigail because she didn't want to her husband to go to jail. During the scene, they kick out Proctor he yells out that he already had told everyone in the courthouse the truth. Specifically, Proctor states, “Elizabeth, I have confessed it” (Miller 87). Basically, Proctor means that he had said everything he had done and the judge wanted to hear Elizabeth's perspective. Everyone inside the court knows what he has done by the confession he gave. Here, proctor implies that he decided to give up his confession and lets everyone in the courthouse the thing he has been involved in. Since Elizabeth is her wife and she loves him she will try to keep her husband out
