As a child, I wanted to be like Elizabeth Taylor. The glitz and glamour of Hollywood were fascinating to me. In my world of make believe, I actually thought she would show up to my house and be my friend. She was so beautiful and everything in her life was perfect. Little did I know it was only an image and not real life. As I grew older, I added Annette Funicello, Vivien Leigh and Audrey Hepburn to my list but Elizabeth Taylor remained my number one.
I never outgrew those childish dreams and in my fantasy world, I often found it difficult to face reality as an adult.
In September 1942, my parents moved from the family farm in Fouke, Arkansas to a rented house on Grim Street in Texarkana, Arkansas. With 5 children, my mom was 7 months pregnant
