The lesson was adapted to address the individual needs of each ELL. To illustrate, students’ expected language output aligned with their individual proficiency level and/or learning style (i.e., draw, demonstrate, describe, or explain). The second adaption made to the lesson was varied grouping. Within the small group, students has opportunities to work with partners of varied ability as well similar ability. For example, during the application activity, I had students of similar English language proficiency work together. This grouping allowed me to provide targeted instruction and scaffolds based on the student’s needs.
