It was without a doubt that the popularity and rise of Elvis Presley also known as the king of rock and roll in 1956 affected many aspects of the Australian pop culture including music choices, fashion, and lifestyles. Before WWII began, young people didn't have a lot of leisure time this was because they usually worked for long hours to provide money for their families. After WWII the young people stayed longer at schools with food and school fees provided by their parents, they also received pocket money as most children had part time jobs.
