Although not published till after her death, her poetry reveals a great deal about the depths of her life. One such poem is “My Life Close Twice Before Its Close”. A comparison of Emily Dickinson’s life to her poem “My Life Close Twice Before Its Close” shows the three closing she experience; closing to relationship closing to society, and closing to her life. The first closure to Emily Dickinson’s life was when she closed herself to relationships.
