Emily Rose was a young religious girl before her life changed completely when she was unable to control her body. She later began to see devilish glimpses and would start breaking down by the sight of crucifixes (‘’Emily Rose’’). Although people now believe demonic possession is just a mental illness. I would disagree because what happened to Emily Rose was out of the ordinary.
Possessed individuals are typically characterized as having strange behavior like the ability to speak languages never before studied; superhuman abilities such as abnormal strength, or the ability to perform things that are humanly impossible like levitation. Possessed people will laugh at life threatening injuries and cry at the sight of crucifixes or religious images. A demon is something that possesses a human, each demon has its own purpose. In ancient times people believed that an evil spirit could enter a person’s body and control it. Anyone who came under the control of evil spirits was known to be demon possessed.
