It’s as alive as you or me” In the movie, The Secret Garden, the dynamic characters Mary Lennox, Colin Craven, Archy Craven, all think that their emotions are gone and never will return. However, they only think that their emotions are gone, and they must go on a journey to find out that this is not true. “My parents didn’t want me.” Mary Lennox character is built around the fact that her parents never loved her or even wanted her to begin with. Because of this, Mary had thought that her emotions had gone away. However when she find the garden she begins to learn how she still has her emotions. He did not want to see his son because he thought that if he fell in love with him then if he died Archy would be put back through the same thing he went through when his wife died. Because of this he does not even speak to colin and is always away. However, this does not help him regain his emotions. When he has the dream of his wife calling to him, he instantly wants to see colin because he finally realized that his condition was not going to get better if he did not try and connect with his son. When he meets colin in the garden and colin is walking then he truly begins to feel his emotions again. This is very good because it means that he is going to care for Mary and Colin. “You brought us back to life. You did something I thought no one could do. Don’t be afraid. I won’t shut it up again.” Even though people think that they have lost their ability to feel, all they need is someone or something to bring them back to life again. This is proven with Archy and Colin Craven because it is Mary, who “brings them back to life”. For mary however, it is the garden who brings her back to life. All it takes is one person to set things
