The largest problem that major companies and clothing lines are facing in the process of outsourcing their product is whether they acknowledge the issues in the factories they hire or do they ignore it. Though the companies are not aware of what is going on in these factories. But on the other hand they should be doing their research on the facility and its employees. Should it be brought to their attention if they didn’t know they should find a way to better the conditions of the factories. As it mentions in the book all firing the factory does is punish the workers. They will still be treated the same way but with another major company. These companies struggle most with what they should do with the issues in the factories. Should they speak up and make a change or should they keep it quiet and have their product produced under cruel conditions and never do anything to make it better? It is a constant moral debate as well as a struggle. It is much easier to outsource jobs because the cost of materials and labor is cheaper. But the labor is cheaper because the conditions are horrible, and the employees are desperate for work to feed their families. The large companies obviously want to have their products made with as little money as possible to sell for double or triple what it cost to make it, the do realize it is not worth the cruel treatment of other people.
