Employee relations is in place for the well being of employees ensuring that their rights are protected and that all rules and regulations are applied to employees, it is there to process employee grievances and investigate relevant incidents, discuss pay and bonuses, resolve disputes between colleagues and management, help resolve issues around hours of work or health and safety. It is a policy that encourages employees to take concerns to higher levels of management. It is all about securing the best possible conditions and living standards for employees.
A recent incident at ASDA involved a colleague and a member of management in which the colleague had written out a formal letter of grievance against the said manager, the case was taken further and in order to resolve the issue effectively the grievance was read over by senior members of management who then set the date on time of which the investigation would begin. Eye witness testimonials were taken into consideration, both parties were interviewed separately after which a decision was made.
