In the not so distant future humanity is attacked by an unknown extraterrestrial race dubbed the “buggers.” this highly advanced alien species invades Earth looking to colonize it. The humans successfully fend off the invaders and are now stocking up for the next time that the buggers decide to come. To make sure that the next time that we fight the buggers will be the last. The military starts selecting and training only the smartest children on Earth to defeat the buggers. In this selective group, we find humanity's best hope six-year-old Ender Wiggin. The book starts with Ender getting attacked by Stilson and his band of goonies. Ender has an altercation with Stilson and beats the crap out of him also killing him (though Ender is not aware that he murdered Stilson until later). …show more content…
So Graff takes him to Earth so that his sister Valentine can talk to him and convince him to go back to Battle School. During all this Valentine and Peter make plans for after the bugger wars to take over the world. They both go by pseudonyms and post political ideas, gaining a following. Ender is ready to go back to Battle School, but Graff decides it is better for Ender to go straight to command school. At command school, Ender meets the man who first defeated the buggers, Mazer Rackham. Ender then plays a battle simulation with a squad of the kids from his battle school. It is grueling and tedious as Ender's squadron goes through seemingly impossible simulations. Despite this Ender always wins, he even blows up the bugger's planet. Everyone celebrates, and Ender is confused because he just thinks that it was merely a simulation. Mazer then tells Ender that the simulations were real and that he killed all of the buggers. Ender is in disbelieve of the mass genocide he had just committed and faints. Ender goes in and out of consciousness while on Earth everything is in complete
