Like any movie remake, Endless Love will be continued to be critiqued by fans of the original film from 1981. Endless Love is a classic romance movie that has its fair share of drama and teenage love that is able to overcome anything that comes in its way. Endless Love begins by introducing David the sweet popular boy and Jade the quiet outcast still mourning her brother's death at the high school graduation. Jade comes from a wealthy family who is willing to get her anything for graduation. Jade says that all she wants is a party, after running into David she invites him and that is where they have their first romantic kiss. In her critique, Christy makes it clear that she is not a fan of romance movies. This makes her review more biased than a usual movie review might be. She explains that the movie is "awfully tasteful and emotionally detached" (Lemire, Christy). A romance movie would not be considered a romance movie if it were not for all the sappy parts that make it the genre that it is. Most of the people that decide to critique romance movies are those who have yet to experience a love that they would fight for, just as Jade and David do for each other, despite Jades fathers disapproval. When the reviewer called it tasteful and emotionally detached, she fails to mention all of the parts of the movie that provoke emotion. The whole movie the family is mourning the death of the older brother, the main character got in a life-threatening car accident, the boyfriend punched his girlfriend's dad, the restraining order was put into place to keep the two in love apart, and the horrible fire that not only burnt down the house left the family with no memories of the brother who had died. All of the above is proof enough that this movie should be able to provoke emotion out of even those who do not enjoy love stories. It should provoke emotion because this movie covers all kinds of tragedies.
The reviewer then goes on to say that the two actors
