Act four is when Andrey accepts that his life is not what he wants it to be. Andrey speaks on his disappointment with his life, “Oh, where is it all gone, where has my past gone, the time when I was young, merry, clever, when I had fine thoughts, fine dreams, when my present and my past were lit up by hope?” (Three Sisters Act 4).
