When many students come to college, they believe they are already exceptional writers. Many freshmen may have earn high marks on their high school essays and even score well on their placement exams. Nevertheless, many freshmen students may only know one way of writing while college demands that students learn multiple styles. As C.J. Cherryh states, “It is perfectly okay to write garbage--as long as you edit brilliantly.” In English 102: Writing For A Liberal Education class, freshmen students will learn different writing styles, develop their creative writing abilities, and develop a strong vocabulary.

What makes Professor Reese an excellent professor is that he comes up with unique techniques. For instance, Professor Reese teaches the class how to write an abecedarian sentence. An abecedarian sentence is a sentence in which the first letter of each word follows the order of the alphabet. An example of an abecedarian sentence is “Alvan Baker can duck, eat, fort, girl, howl, in just kitty. Linda makes nitrogen potassium; Quin runs so tired under Vincent Williams. Xavier Young Ziggler” (Nkede, 2018). None of the students knew what an abecedarian sentence is, and how to write one as well. However, by the end of the class, everyone knew how to write an abecedarian sentence. Furthermore, Professor Reese presents to the class the sausage sentence. A sausage sentence is a sentence that begins each word first letter with the word before it last letter. An example of this is, “Blaise ever ran nor row window widow white Elizabeth. However, Randy Yang gone eat the elephant tail. Long go Oprah” (Nkede, 2018). Lastly, Professor Reese educates his class on how to write an American sentence. An American sentence is a sentence that has seventeen syllabus in total. A sample of this sentence is “I am so tired and sleepy due to my biology project” (Nkede, 2018).
