Environmental Ethics Summary Why do environmental ethics matter in international relations? Well the simple answer is because we all live on this planet and we should all care. Environment should be a topic taken very seriously especially by the most important people on this planet who are making the calls. Now when we talk about environmental ethics there are a few different kinds to talk about. Anthropocentric ethics is how we must treat other humans. It’s the process of deciding environmental policies with regard to other humans well being. So say a logging company comes to a rain forest and tears it all down and destroys an indigenous tribes home, that would be a violation against humanity and should be something people should take into consideration before they go around destroying peoples homes and livelihood.
Bio centric environmental ethics deal with how we affect animals and habitats. Why should humans be the only beings worth taking into consideration when we make environmental decisions? Countless times we just bulldoze down habitats and destroy animal’s homes. So what I’m getting at is that people must realize that we are not the only things on this planet and we depend on this planet to keep us fed and sustain us but if we keep killing it then we wont have a planet any more.

The Big Crunch The Big Crunch Summary One of the many problems we seem to have globally is population size. It isn’t just one key factor feeding the fire; there is population size, growth, fertility and longevity. The estimated number of babies being born per minute is 247. Per year it’s 130 million, and we only have 52 million deaths per year. The death rate is falling which is a good thing but on the same hand our short life expectancies was the counter balance until the 1950s. After WW2 the population growth rate started to climb until it reached mankind’s all time high at 2.04 percent a year. The good thing is that population growth is slowing down but it’s also booming in other areas. In areas such as Africa and the Middle East fertility rates are up to 7 children per woman. And in India there is an estimated 16 million births registered each year. With population booms in poor countries it is hard for Governments to regulate population growth, actually it has been proven that if the people themselves make the choice with a little guidance they will regulate themselves. In India in the 1970s the government would give men cash and a radio if they agreed to get vasectomies but when it failed they started to take people of the street and do operations and it had a major backlash. People need to make it their decision to have less or no kids but they can’t be forced or else the population will increase in rebellion.

Article 14 Article 14 Summary Most of the time people think of globalization as a healthy process but there is a dark side to it. With endangered animals being a big market for people with the taste for it and money, it has been getting bigger with the progress of globalization. For along time the main threat was habitat destruction, logging companies would come in and makes dirt paths into massive roads that logging trucks could fit on. With making access so easy to get to these forests poachers and hunters would come in and hunt the animals to the brink of extinction. Once the logging industry comes in its only a matter of time before the wildlife disappears. A logging company entered into the Congo and with in 3 weeks 25 percent of the animals died or moved. Within a year of a logging company came into Malaysian forests no big mammals were left. There is hope though, Governments are creating tourists attractions out of the wildlife preserves which the charge 500 dollars to spend an hour with the Gorillas, so it brings money for the people of the local economy.
