Enzyme is a substance produced by a living organism that acts as a catalyst to bring about a specific biochemical reaction. The purpose of this lab is to perform a quantitative essay of the activity of an enzyme in a tissue extract using a spectrophotometer.
The second part of the lab is to then organize the data as concise tables and graphs for inclusion in a lab report describing the properties of the enzyme peroxidase. The third objective of the lab is to test the following hypotheses. The first hypotheses to test is whether the amount of enzyme does or does not influence the rate of reaction. The second hypotheses I tested was weather the temperature of the solution does not influence the activity of an enzyme. The third hypothesis I tested was whether the Ph of the solution does not influence the activity of an enzyme. The fourth hypotheses I tested was whether the boiling an enzyme before a reaction does not influence its activity. The fourth and final hypothesis I tested was whether the other molecules with shapes similar to an enzyme’s substrate have no effect on the activity of the enzyme. After testing the hypothesis, I was required to visualize the 3D structure of the peroxidase with a computer and see explanations of the ph and temperature effects I observed in the experiments.

The same thing goes for tube 4 and 5, tube 6 and 7 and tube 8 and 9. After graphing the result of the temperature effect on peroxidase activity, I was then required to find the effect of ph or have on peroxidase activity. When I ran the experiments, the results for tube 2 and 3 had some changes because each twenty seconds, the number only went up two each 20 seconds. The results were actually surprising because comparing to the trial run of enzyme activity not a very significant change like I had
