A philosopher named Epicurus argued that death should not be feared and everyone should get rid the irrational fear of it. He thinks that this fear is often based upon nervousness about having an unpleasant afterlife, such as being punished in hell for all the bad sins that people may have committed during when they were living- However, Epicurus stated, “Death is nothing to us”.
We fear of passing the most- but death is the privation of sense perception. It makes us the mortality of life a matter of gratification not by adding a limitless time, but by removing the longing for immortality. Epicurus’s statement is that life is too precious to give up. We fear death in order to be alive and function our body. “When we do exist, death is not present. When death is present, we do not exist”.

We should not fear death as if fear is just an illusion that keeps us thinking and to be alive. Epicurus was one of the first atomists who believed that everything consists of material entities and that there are no souls that survive death. His argument states that if your life ends at death, then you have nothing to fear. All the pain and pleasure will be gone because you are already dead.
