Nationalism is a sense of loyalty people tend to have for their country. Sectionalism is when someone is more concerned with their own groups issues rather than any in larger groups or countries. Both were prevalent in the Era of Good Feelings. Many people during this time tended to only look at America and had began to ignore international issues. The American people had began to get severely proud of their country, in some ways it got in their way. In Document 1 Stephen Decatur says, “Our Country! In her intercorse with foreign nations may she always be in the right; but our country, right or wrong!” As Decatur demonstrated many people were convinced America was right and there was no other way. In Document 2 in a poem by Joseph
