Eric Busa educating himself after High School
Going to school for eight hours and then working a shift can be exhausting for a high school student, especially when it comes to maintaining academics. However, Eric Busa shares his alternative to going to school, and work while benefitting him for the future. It seems almost impossible to do, especially when trying to manage time. Eric Busa, a senior of the Seneca Valley School District, conquers all those tasks by being involved in the co-op educational program.

At his job, he works on machines and teaches his coworkers how to use them. Busa said his parents were very, “supportive” of his decision. His mom works in a tax firm and his dad is involved in business management. “They thought it was a good trade for me,” Busa stated. People can be visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic learners. Busa is the kinesthetic learner which means he learns better doing hands on activities. People question how their children will get educated when students are only in school until 5th period then reporting to work. Eric Busa said Co-op takes a lot of “stress” off of him. In most cases, when students leave school it is a sense of relief. Stress is the number one cause of anxiety, and anxiety is a major problem among high school students. Sometimes students cannot handle the big groups of people, or the crowded hallways in between classes. Children should feel comfortable coming to school, and bettering themselves. If a student does not want to attend school because of anxiety, the school cannot expect them to perform to their highest ability. This program is good because instead of sitting in classes that are making him stressed and are not in his interest, he is able to be involved doing something for his career pathway. Busa said, “I’m able to get my school work done on after I leave work.” He leaves school at approximately 11:39AM after his fifth period class, and arrives at work at 12:00PM where he works until 5:00PM. On weekends he works, “7-10 hours” a day. He said the school day drags on and he hates sitting in study halls where he could be doing something
