Within the past few years, there has been a new questioning of whether or not our criminal justice system is failing us or not. This question has been raised amongst the minorities, especially the african americans. The african american community believes that they are receiving unfair cases within the court system because of their skin color; cases in which this has happened is the Michael Brown and Eric Garner Cases. These cases have to deal with young african americans who were shot brutally by police officers who claimed they were armed and dangerous which was not the case. But in the court both white police officers had won, causing a whole uprising of strikes and protest. To many people, such as the minorities of this nation it seems like our criminal justice system is failing us. Many of them believe that there should be a change because they believe it is unfair but in reality it is fair. Our criminal justice system is not failing us at all. The police officers ended up winning their case because they were just doing as they were instructed and that was too keep a calm situation and use force if necessary. This was decided in Graham v. Connor in 1998; which stated that "police officers the right to utilize deadly force when they feel endangered or lives of others will be endangered.” Also that deadly force …show more content…
In which the officer believed that his own life was endangered which caused his to take two shots. After the two bullets were shot, the police officer believed that Brown was trying to continue to fight which he fired another shot which ended up killing him. According to the case that was decided in 1998 under Graham v. Connor the police officer in his point of view thought he was endanger causing him to use deadly force.
