Toby: In this stage of development, Toby is likely to have temper tantrums when he does not get his way (Sorrentino, Remmert, Wilk, & Newmaster, 2013).This may happen more frequently due to the unavailability of his mother since she is caring for his grandfather. This is a disadvantage to Toby because even though he is trying to become independent, he still needs that attachment relationship, and seeks attention to fulfill his needs. Until now, her family was normal, with both of her parents working full time. At this stage for Megan, she is less reliant on her parents, so her mother now working in the evening should not disadvantage her. This would be an advantage for her because it gives her more opportunity to be independent, and develop her role in the family. She may also help by learning her mother’s role, and assisting with her siblings in the evening when her mother is working (Cousineau, 2015). Megan will be more interested in the opposite gender in this stage of her development, and will likely seek out intimate relationships. Megan may have questions or encounter issues with relationships, such as rejection, or deciding whether she is ready to have sex. She may not feel comfortable talking to her father about these issues. Since her is not available as much as she used to be, this may disadvantage her because she is not being educated on sex, and could be at risk for pregnancy or STD’s if she is not cautious (Cousineau,
